I (among many others) recieved this email tonight. My Aunt had her first MRI done last Wed. And they got the results today. Erik, my cousin (my Aunt's son) wrote this email to let everyone know the results. He words it better than I ever would so that is why I am just copying the email he sent...
The last few months have been filled with many doctor's appointments, as Sam completed radiation a few weeks ago, along with the co-existing 36 day chemotreatment. Honestly, though there were a few bumps along the way, she breezed through all of it thanks be to the mercy and kindness of God. She would add, "that's fruit from working with sick kids for years."
I would want to also share that my Dad has served my Mom heroically dayafter day. He always prized himself as being a flexible servant, well now folks, he takes first prize in my book. Dad, thanks for being there for your wife of 35 years, especially this one!
Today was the big day as we got the results from the 3 month MRI from Dr.Whiner. Basically, everything looks good at this point, which is exactly what we were hoping for. Again, we were celebrating with tears together today, thanking God for the good results.
The next 3 months will be filled with more doctor appointments, as well as a 23 day off and 5 day on chemo treatment. This chemo treatment is 3 times the dose she was on prior, but Sam is doing great with this too. Hopefully Sam will have some memorable moments ahead with the grandkids at the beach, the leaves changing colors and the cool Autumn nights (which she loves).Around early Nov. we will provide another update as we get the results fromthe 6 month MRI.
Thank you for your prayers and support along this journey, so much grace has been extended to us through them.
On behalf of Jim and Sam Sheffer,
Erik

Aunt Sam
Today my Aunt gets her MRI done. The first MRI since she has had her surgery to remove the cancer (glioblastoma satge IV) from her brain. The first MRI since she started her chemo. and radiation. They are checking for regrowth or new growths in different areas. She has gone through this amazingly well. No side effects from her treatments...only fatigue but not enough to keep her from doing stuff. I have a very strong feeling that all will go well. I have been praying for her as many others have also. She is so strong and courageous. I cant wait to hear how everything went! Love you Aunt Sam!!! You are an awesome person :)

My Aunt
This has been on my mind, non-stop since it all started. Most of you do not know my Aunt... but some of you might? Since I have no clue who is going to read this, I have no clue who knows her and doesnt know her.
My Aunts name is Sandra. But all who know her well call her, Sam. She is the most amazing person I have ever known. Not only that, but she is (was) also one of the most healthiest people I know. That's why I am blogging about her...because that all changed drastically on April 25th. She was admitted to the hospital for a brain mass. They did surgery to remove the mass on Tues. April 28th. The DR. was able to remove all of it but said it was a highly aggressive, malignant tumor known as a glioblastoma. Therefore her prognosis is very serious. She went to rehab later that week and spent about 10 days there. She did great!
On Tuesady May 26th she started radiation. On Monday June 1st she will begin chemo. Through all this she has been able to keep her spirits high. She lets nothing bring her down. She is so brave. She is always happy and smiling. She speaks kindly of everyone/everything. She is more worried about everyone else than herself. What gives her this peace and happiness is her faith in the Lord. I think it is amazing. I admire her so much. I love her so much. My life would never be the same without her.
I do not know what my beliefs are. Or what my 'faith' is. But I do believe for people out there, like my Aunt, there is a better place when life on Earth ends. I never really pray(ed)...esp. on a daily basis. Hence, the not knowing my beliefs... but I do pray for my Aunt. I pray that her tumor never comes back. I pray that her health doesnt diminish w/ her treatments. I pray for my Uncle to find the strength to go through this. My poor Uncle...as you can imagine, he is devistated! I pray that Erik (my cousin) keeps praying :) and I am sure he will!
So, who ever stopped by and read this, thank you. If you have the time please pray or whatever it is you do... wish, think, hope, dream...for my Aunt and her family. It would be greatly appreciated!
